Quebec Manufacturer Expands Westward with Purchase of Allied
Le Groupe Atis, previously known as the Focus Group, has acquired Allied Windows, a 30-year old manufacturer of aluminum and vinyl windows based in Aldergrove, BC. The acquisition is the Quebec-based window and door company’s first in Western Canada.
With two manufacturing plants, Allied Windows serves the residential and commercial markets in British Columbia. As part of the Atis Group, Allied will provide a platform to distribute products in British Columbia, Alberta and the Prairies, company officials state.
The Atis Group previously operated six plants and a distribution center in Quebec, where it makes wood, aluminum and vinyl windows and doors, as well as insulating glass. With the latest acquisition, it now operates under the Allied, Laflamme, Melco, Solarcan and Vimat names.
“Allied offers a great synergy in the development of products and distribution, while giving Atis a national presence for the first time,” says Robert Doyon, president and chairman of the board of the Atis Group.
“Our principal customers asked us to support them in the West and it is exactly what this acquisition of Allied Windows will enable us to do.”
“With the passing of years, we received many acquisition offers, but this one seemed to be the best. Mr. Doyon and Atis share our values of respect and durability, which means much to our management team,” says Guy Wonnacott, the former owner of Allied Windows. “I always thought that these values must be in the heart of our activities.”
Allied will continue to operate at its current locations with its existing management team, including Wonnacott. The company notes that not only will all Allied personnel remain in place, but also it plans to increase its sales force and expand production to meet strong demand in Western Canada.
