Jeld-Wen Expands with Additional Fiber Plant
Jeld-Wen Inc. plans to invest $85 million to build a materials plant in Louisiana. It will be the company’s sixth fiber plant and Jeld-Wen’s most sizeable investment to date in a new facility, according to company representatives.
Construction on the Winn Parish site will begin early next year, with expected completion in the summer of 2008. The company plans to employ about 75 people when it begins operation.
The highly automated plant will press fiber and wood chips into skins with a woodgrain appearance used on doors and frames. A nearby adhesives factory run by Dynea Oy, a company based in Helsinki, Finland, will supply the Jeld-Wen plant.
