New International Codes Will Go Into Effect Soon

If you have not yet received any requests for labeling of your products to the AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/I.S.2/A440-05 window and door standard, you can expect to begin receiving them within the next few months. At least 10 states (Alaska, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin) have declared their intent to begin enforcing one or more of the 2006 International Codes during the 2007 calendar year, writes Julie Ruth, code consultant for the American Architectural Manufacturers Association in her column in the upcoming issue of Window & Door.

Another eight states (Iowa, New York, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington and West Virginia) are reviewing one or more of the 2006 International Codes with the intent of adoption at some future time. The 2006 International Building Code, International Residential Code and International Energy Conservation Code all reference AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/I.S.2/A440-05 for exterior windows, sliding doors and unit skylights, Ruth notes.
