How can the industry best deal with window safety?
Legislation is a positive step because it puts everyone on equal footing.
Legislation wouldn't be bad, but there's no product out there that solves the problem.
Education, not mandates, is the most effective way to reduce falls and still provide egress.
The industry should find a solution, and lobby for its integration into the codes.

Therma-Tru Teams with Garage Door Manufacturer

A supplier agreement between Therma-Tru Doors and garage door and opener manufacturer Wayne-Dalton Corp. has produced the first-ever fiberglass-clad garage door, the companies report. Wayne-Dalton now offers a residential garage door featuring Therma-Tru’s AccuGrain technology, with the intent to match the entry and patio door manufacturer’s products that utilize the same graining process. The partnership was announced to the public in February at the International Builders’ Show, where the new door was on display.

“Therma-Tru is excited to enable the use of our proprietary technological processes for...consumers who want those same qualities in their garage doors,” says Hal Gardner, Therma-Tru’s vice president of marketing.

“We are excited to be the first to offer the home builder or home owner this unprecedented look in a garage door,” notes Bill Earnest, Wayne-Dalton director of marketing and product development.

The joint-effort product line is available through Wayne-Dalton’s national dealer network and national retailers. For more information visit
