Christina Lewellen,
senior editor of Window & Door | A news story last week reported that TruStile Doors will pay more than $90,000 to settle claims that the Denver-based manufacturer had unlicensed Microsoft and Symantec software on corporate computers. The company is now in compliance and has developed a software license management program to make sure that there are no recurring problems.
While TruStile suffered the unfortunate headline, I can’t imagine that all other industry companies are perfect angels when it comes to licensing. I’m not implying that companies are actively seeking unlicensed products—but do you know for sure that every last bit of software on every single company computer is registered and paid for?
I’d like to hear about your challenges with software—and, trust me, your responses will be anonymous. Click here to send me an email.
RESULTS AND COMMENTS FROM LAST WEEK'S POLL—"Beyond offering energy efficient products, what's your company doing to appeal to the green building movement?": While various “green initiatives” were a common theme at IBS, not all window and door companies are jumping on the bandwagon. Click here to find out and view the results of last week’s poll.
