John Swanson,
editor/
associate publisher of Window & Door | Many home buyers think the market will improve once a new President takes office next January, according to a recent Move Inc. survey.
I’m not sure what those results mean, but it got me thinking: does the industry think things will improve when our next President is sworn in? And, if so, who would improve things most for the window and door business—John McCain or Barack Obama?
So that’s my poll question for the week. Remember, it’s not who you’re going to vote for—we’ll get to that later—but which candidate would do more for us? Whether it’s reduced taxes, steps to improve the economy generally, efforts to boost the housing market or remodeling activity more specifically or a push to get a new energy bill enacted that made the U.S. greener or less dependent on foreign oil, the next President is likely to bring a new agenda to the White House.
If you think McCain or Obama would be better for the industry, email me and let me know why. And what if you had five minutes to lobby either candidate on behalf of your business, what would you ask for? We haven’t talked about presidential politics since the primaries, so let’s start a little dialog now.
