The overall economy could begin to start growing again before year end, it was noted, but unemployment levels are likely to continue their rise to about 10 percent by year-end, and may not come down all that quickly.
We've seen a mixed picture in our own industry over the past several months. Some companies have brought back workers, but we're still seeing cutbacks as well. So I wondered if our industry is going to see a "jobless recovery" as well. Or will window and door companies start hiring more workers over the next year or so?
That's our poll question of the week, and, of course, I'd like your feedback too. If your company's going to add or bring back workers, is it because the market's recovering? Are you targeting new segments? Even if you don't think you'll need more workers, you can email me and let me know what you think.
