AAMA and WDMA are throwing their support
behind a new Senate bill designed to tie the energy efficient tax
credits for windows, doors and skylights to Energy Star. Rather than
the 30/30 requirements now in place, the bill would allow homeowners to
claim tax credits for the purchase of products qualified to the new
2010 Energy Star standards.
What do you think? That's our poll
question of the week. And it's a simple yes or no vote, so I'd like to
hear you opinion too. Should the industry be asking for more, like a
bigger credit or a longer timeframe? Some companies, no doubt, have
made a significant investment to meet the 30/30 critieria. Would you
be upset to see it disappear?
Email me and tell me what you
think. And don't feel obligated to limit your thoughts to the new
Senate bill. Last week, Vice President Biden
unveiled a new plan
to push energy efficiency retrofits of homes. It looks to create more
financing options for homeowners, as well as provisions for a system to
rate the energy performance of existing homes. Do you see this program
having potential for our industry?
