The Talk

By Christina Lewellen, Senior Editor

This time of year, we start looking back to summarize some of the most notable happenings of the past 12 months. In the mainstream media, some of the top stories being bantered about include politicians’ extramarital activities, royal weddings, and the continued economic woes.

In the window and door industry, we’ve had an interesting year as well. We started out with a significant drop in the size of the tax credit for which homeowners are eligible for making energy efficient upgrades, and we saw EPA push forward on its lead regulations. As the economic challenges persisted throughout the year, we also saw some additional industry buy-outs and multiple plant closings.

What do you believe is the biggest window and door story of the year? Take a moment to vote in our poll, and feel free to email me or post a comment if you believe we’ve left something worthwhile off the list.

On behalf of the entire Window & Door team, I’d like to take a moment to thank you for all your support in 2011 and wish you a very happy holiday season. We will be taking our usual end-of-year pause in publishing WDweekly, returning to you with the January 11 edition. See you in 2012!
