The Talk

I have already learned a great deal in my time with Window & Door magazine; along with the technical details of the fenestration business, I am getting to know the men and women who make up this industry. Make no mistake, while the stock in trade is entry doors, windows, components and supplies, the heart of this business is the people. 

I have encountered a variety of companies whose employees demonstrate ingenuity, technical skill and business acumen along with a measure of good humor and integrity. These people and their organizations create high-quality, reliable products for the residential window and door industry. 

Our annual Crystal Achievement Awards, the deadline for which is next week, seek to recognize these efforts. This juried program honors manufacturers and suppliers for their outstanding contributions to advancing the products and processes that comprise fenestration. The awards are quickly becoming one of my favorite projects because we get to acknowledge the hard work and imagination that go in to what these people create. Read More

The Internet of Things and Industry 4.0 are terms that capture the notion of an interconnected world, with links and communication between everything from appliances, telephones and vehicles to manufacturing facilities and entire buildings. The ramifications of these connections, dubbed IoT, are widespread, leading to a fourth wave in our civilization, namely, Industry 4.0.

The September issue of Window & Door magazine will explore this topic and how it relates to the fenestration industry. As part of that coverage, we want to hear from you.
