GlassBuild America Sets Records
Over 10,000 industry professionals gathered in Las Vegas last week for GlassBuild America: The Glass, Window & Door Expo. The record-breaking attendance for the three-day event was matched with a record-breaking total of 489 exhibitors, including a large number of window and door industry suppliers.
The strong attendance figures were greeted as a good sign of industry optimism, despite recent declines in the housing market. Several exhibitors noted that while business may be down for some window and door manufacturers, certain regions remain healthy and overall expectations are for any downturn to be mild, and relatively short-lived.
The show featured a large variety of glass processing equipment, including several new flexible spacer IG lines. Additionally, the show featured a variety of fabrication machinery for vinyl and aluminum. Impact products were being featured by vinyl extruders, with other suppliers showing everything from hardware to software at the September 19-21 event.
Organized by the National Glass Association, the show hosted 115 international exhibitors, with 43 from Canada and 35 from China. Companies from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Norway, South Korea, Spain and Taiwan also exhibited.
The 2006 event also saw a 50 percent increase in international attendance over that of 2005 and a significant increase in attendees from top-level management.
GlassBuild America returns to Atlanta next year, September 10-12.
