Andersen Shifts Media Spending to New Firm

After doing business for 73 years with its Minneapolis-based ad agency Campbell Mithun, Andersen Windows has opted to partner with a new agency for its future campaigns, according to a news report in Finance & Commerce. Also of Minneapolis, the firm Haworth Marketing & Media Co. will now be responsible for media planning and buying for the window manufacturer—a task that comes with an estimated budget of $15 million to $20 million, according to the report.

The brief notes that Jack Rooney, Campbell Mithun’s chief executive officer, says “several factors contributed to the split,” but offered no additional details. Andersen spokespeople declined to comment on its decision. “Make no mistake,” Rooney told Finance & Commerce, “We accepted [Andersen’s] word with great regret. I could rationalize it a number of ways, but Andersen is no longer working with Campbell Mithun, and that saddens us.”

Privately held Andersen announced last fall that it had hired Minneapolis firm Gabriel deGrood Bendt to create its 2006 ad campaign, but had retained Campbell Mithun as its “agency of record” until the recent announcement, the report also noted.
