Simonton Gets New Leadership in Restructuring Process

Fortune Brands Home & Hardware will streamline its leadership with a new organizational structure for the companies of its SBR unit. Simonton Windows, Fypon, Dixie-Pacific and Hy-Lite units will continue to operate independently, but report directly to Bruce Carbonari, president and CEO of Fortune Brands Home & Hardware LLC. The company plans to merge the functions of the SBR corporate office—finance, administration, legal and information technology—into the Simonton Windows organization. Greg Schorr, currently president and CEO of SBR Inc., has agreed to stay on and assist with the organizational transition for several months.

In making the announcement, Fortune Brands has also named Mark Savan as president and COO of Simonton Windows. Previously vice president and general manager for the accessories and commercial business of Moen Inc., another Fortune Brands company, he succeeds John Brunett, who also remains to assist through the transition.

“By integrating the SBR corporate functions into Simonton, we’re aligning all of our home products brands on the same footing under the same umbrella,” Carbonari explains. “This streamlined organizational structure makes perfect sense for all of the SBR companies and for Fortune Brands Home & Hardware,” Schorr adds.

“This new structure was contemplated at the time of the acquisition by Fortune Brands. As a holding company, SBR’s reason for existing ended after its merger into Fortune Brands,” Schorr continues. “Simonton, Fypon, Dixie-Pacific and Hy-Lite will continue to operate independently directly under Fortune Brands Home & Hardware, the same way their sister companies, including Moen, MasterBrand Cabinets and Therma-Tru Doors, already do.”

Discussing the leadership change at Simonton, Carbonari credits Savan for building Moen’s accessories business into one of the company’s fastest growth areas. “He brings to his new position tremendous passion and knowledge of the home products industry,” Carbonari states, “and I have confidence under his leadership, Simonton’s best days are still to come.”

“Simonton is such a great brand because it’s been built by tremendous people, and I’m excited to be joining the Simonton family,” Savan states. “John Brunett and his team have built a strong foundation, and we have great opportunities at Simonton to continue innovating, expanding customer relationships and gaining market share.”

Joining Savan as part of the Simonton executive team will be Brian Standley, as vice president of finance, and Paul Clegg as chief technology officer. Both were previously with SBR.
