CMI Expands to Texas

CraftMaster Manufacturing Inc. has purchased a 278,000 square-foot-facility in Garland, TX, to convert into a manufacturing plant for its line of interior doors. The addition marks the company’s third door-manufacturing facility, joining the Christiansburg, VA, and Ozark, AL, locations.

Located northeast of Dallas, CMI anticipates installing state-of-the-art production equipment in early 2007 with plans to be fully operational in the second quarter of next year, according to a release.

“The Garland facility is a strategic expansion for CMI that allows us to meet the immediate customer demands in the southern and western United States, while also positioning us to achieve long-term growth plans for CraftMaster raised-panel interior doors,” says Bob Merrill, CMI president and CEO. “Like our current facilities, the Garland plant will feature the latest door manufacturing equipment, allowing us to be efficient and customer focused.”

The Chicago-based company expects to start out with 60 new jobs at the Garland plant, with eventual plans to expand to 150 employees by the fourth year in operation.
