Vista to Open Second Plant in Georgia

Warren, OH-based Vista Window Co. has purchased a 55,000-square-foot facility in Swainsboro, GA, to expand its operations. The new facility, situated on 7.5 acres, will focus on new construction and hurricane-rated products, while the home base operations in Ohio will continue to focus on the production of replacement products.

The Swainsboro plant, located northwest of Savannah, GA, will employ about 50 people as it opens in early 2007. The company expects that within three years, the plant will require about 100 employees.

Known for producing replacement products, Vista’s upcoming expansion into new construction and hurricane protection products will be marketed under the brand name Disaster Shield. The company worked with vinyl extrusion supplier Veka to develop the profiles for the new product lines.

The company expects to grow its distribution network with the second facility coming online, extending its reach into about 15 states. Company officials peg the two facilities’ sales for 2007 to likely reach $20 million.
