Window Solutions Group to Double Manufacturing Space

Cincinnati-based Window Solutions Group, parent company to seven window brands, plans to double its manufacturing facility size by the end of next year. The company expects to break ground shortly to build a 150,000-square-foot building to house all of the manufacturing for its VinylMax Vinyl Windows, Thermolock Vinyl Windows and Patio Doors, SherWood Custom Wood Windows, Radiance Vinyl Window Systems, New Windows for America and IntelliGlass brands. The move-in date will likely be December 2007.

Window Solutions Group has expanded its geographic reach in the past several years, logging 20 to 30 percent growth each year for the past four years, according to Laura Doerger-Roberts, vice president of sales and marketing. The company also introduced the Sherwood wood window brand this year, which is one of the drivers for the need for more space, she pointed out. “We’ve had excellent reception to this product,” she said. “[Extruder] Veka brought the wood program to us with its TimberView Technology, and we’ve pioneered the replacement version of that product.”

The new facility, situated on 12 acres about 12 miles from its current Cincinnati location, will feature new and updated equipment, according to Doerger-Roberts. “There will be significant equipment acquisitions for the new facility, and we’ve made significant equipment acquisitions over the past three years also,” she said.

The company’s current employee roster is creeping close to 200 people, and officials expect to hire for as many as 140 new positions—most in the area of production as they bring a second shift online. “The area we’re moving to is a fertile area for gaining new employees,” she explained. “It was important to us to retain as much of our workforce as we could. We’re a family-owned business and all five of us in the business who work for the company wanted to stay in the area also.”

Window Solutions Group gets its products to market primarily through independent distributors. The company focuses on replacement products and serves markets from the East Coast as far west as Denver, and from Minneapolis down to Houston, with about 20 sales representatives in the field.
