e-Poll
Where do you rest on the licensing spectrum?
We’re licensed and we install.
We sell to licensed contractors only.
There’s no licensing in our area, but we wish there was.
Our installers are factory-trained and/or certified, and that’s enough for us.
Too many firms will sell to anybody, so we have to also.
Licensing is just a lot of paperwork—it doesn’t really matter to the buyer.

Silverman Leaving Silver Line; Iles named President/CEO

Bayport, MN’s Andersen Corp. announced that Kenneth Silverman, president and CEO of its subsidiary, Silver Line Building Products Corp., is leaving the business to pursue a new business venture in private equity and real estate development. Silver Line, the largest vinyl window manufacturer in North America, was acquired by Andersen Corporation earlier this year. Randy Iles, currently executive vice president at Silver Line, will succeed Silverman as president and CEO.

“I know this was a difficult decision for Ken because he cares very deeply about the continued success of Silver Line,” says Jim Humphrey, president and CEO of Andersen. “Yet he is confident that Silver Line is positioned for continued growth as part of the Andersen enterprise and that now is the right time to make this transition.”

Iles joined the company in July 2006 from Kimball International, where he served as corporate vice president and general manager. Prior to that, he spent 11 years at Pella Corp. in a variety of leadership roles including president and chief operating officer of Pella’s entry systems division. Iles also spent 16 years with Armstrong World Industries in a variety of marketing, national sales and general management roles.

“Randy’s broad experience at both the strategic and operational levels make him an excellent fit to lead the next era of growth at Silver Line,” says Humphrey.
