e-Poll
Where do you rest on the licensing spectrum?
We’re licensed and we install.
We sell to licensed contractors only.
There’s no licensing in our area, but we wish there was.
Our installers are factory-trained and/or certified, and that’s enough for us.
Too many firms will sell to anybody, so we have to also.
Licensing is just a lot of paperwork—it doesn’t really matter to the buyer.

New Forbes List Offers Window & Door “Top 100” Preview

Forbes recently published its annual rankings of the largest private companies in America, once again including three of the industry’s largest manufacturers sure to be part of Window & Door’s 2007 Top 100 Manufacturers rankings.

Andersen Corp. moved up from number 103 to 94 on the list, with reported sales of $3 billion. The magazine reports sales at the company were up 20 percent in 2005.

Jeld-Wen Inc. moved up from 118 to 102, with Forbes estimating the company’s 2005 sales at $2.9 billion, up 26 percent.

Pella Corp. actually moved down on the Forbes list, from 270 in 2005 to 293 for this year. Estimating the company’s sales of $1.3 billion in 2005, the magazine suggested there was only an 8 percent increase in sales that year.

Window & Door is now preparing our own list of the largest North American window and door manufacturers. We’ve started contacting companies for updated information and will present all the latest in our February issue.

It’s not too late to have your company considered for the 2007 Top 100. If you’re interested, please click here to download our information form and return it to us by December 8.
