Quebec Manufacturer Continues Westward Expansion

Following up on its November 20 acquisition of Allied Windows in British Columbia, the Atis Group has added Bestway, a Calgary-based manufacturer of vinyl windows and steel doors. The acquisition of Bestway, actually completed by Allied, further strengthens the Montreal-based Atis Group’s presence in Western Canada.

Formerly known as Focus Doors and Windows, the Atis Group is now composed of nine manufacturing plants and employs close to 1,600 people. Operating under the Allied, Bestway, Laflamme, Melco, Solarcan and Vimat names, it reports annual revenues of nearly $200 million.

Bestway manufactures and supplies windows to consumers, builders and dealers in the residential and multiple family markets of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Combining the sales network of recently acquired Allied Windows with Bestway’s will offer clients a wider portfolio of products, better delivery times and improved service in Western Canada, company officials state.

“We are very proud to see our growth-by-acquisition strategy over the last two years continue with this acquisition in Alberta, which positions us extremely well to develop the Western market,” says Robert Doyon, Atis president and CEO. “Atis has become one of the top players in the Canadian market and we count on these new employees from Bestway to help us become the reference door-and-window company in Canada.”

“I am very confident that partnering with a strong and growing company like Atis will offer tremendous synergies and further growth potential for our combined organization,” says Marvin Stover, former owner of Bestway. “I am therefore very motivated to work with Robert and his team to make this growing company a major force in the Canadian doors and windows market and will remain as general manager of the Bestway operation.”
