AAMA and WDMA Finalizing Meeting Plans

The annual meetings of the American Architectural Manufacturers Association and the Window & Door Manufacturers Association are scheduled for February, and both groups are now finalizing their programs for the upcoming events.

Coming up first is AAMA, which meets February 11-14 at the Marco Island Marriott Resort in Marco Island, FL. Highlighting the business meeting will be an overview of a new campaign to promote AAMA’s certification program.

Additionally, work will continue on expanding the program to provide manufacturer participants with new value-added options to meet various market needs.

Speakers on the slate include Jerry Jasinowski, president of the
Manufacturing Institute (the research and education arm of the National Association of Manufacturers) and past president of NAM. An authority on political, economic and manufacturing trends, he will discuss the current political landscape and issues related to the competitiveness of American manufacturers. Frank W. Abagnale, the inspiration for the movie Catch Me If You Can and an expert on the subject of forgery, embezzlement and secure documents, is also on the agenda.

AAMA will also host its 70th annual awards banquet, honoring leaders and members who have contributed to the organization’s success over the years.

Detailed information on the meeting is available at

WDMA is holding its 80th annual meeting this year at the Fairmont Orchid Resort and Spa on the Big Island of Hawaii. At the event, scheduled for February 24-28, WDMA officials plan to unveil a new strategic plan to strengthen the organization for the future. A CEO panel discussion of industry trends, challenges and opportunities is also planned.

Scheduled speakers include Harvey M. Bernstein of
McGraw-Hill Construction, who will examine global trends in the construction industry and their impact on windows and doors. Jeffrey Liker, a professor at the University of Michigan and author of The Toyota Way, will offer his insights into lean manufacturing. Additionally, John Powers will discuss inspirational leadership and Jason Jennings will offer a presentation on strategy and positioning.
