Energy Star Recognizes Gorell with Sustained Excellence Award

For the second year in a row, Gorell Windows & Doors will receive the prestigious Energy Star Partner of the Year “Sustained Excellence” Award. The U.S. Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency, which together run the Energy Star program, are once again recognizing the Pennsylvania-based company for its continued leadership in protecting the environment through energy efficiency.

Gorell notes it is the only window manufacturer in the country ever to receive the Sustained Excellence Award—an honor bestowed only to organizations that have won Energy Star Partner of the Year three or more consecutive times. “To receive the Sustained Excellence Award again—and to consistently be named Energy Star Partner of the Year—says a lot about Gorell and the products we make,” says Mike Rempel, the company’s president. “More than 93 percent of the windows we manufactured in 2006 qualified for the Energy Star label because our windows are designed and made exceptionally well. This is no small accomplishment.”

The award reflects Gorell’s efforts in manufacturing Energy Star-qualified products, as well as its work to promote the Energy Star program. “Partners like Gorell are national leaders in energy efficiency,” says Alexander Karsner, assistant secretary for energy efficiency and renewable energy at the DOE. “Gorell’s long-term commitment to energy efficiency is good for business, the environment, consumers—and the country as a whole.”

Last week,
WDweekly reported that DOE and EPA also honored Pella Corp. as its Energy Star Partner of the Year in the windows category, and Precision Entry, in the doors category (click here to read that story). All three manufacturers, as well as numerous companies and organizations involved in other fields, will be honored at an awards ceremony in Washington, DC on March 21, 2007.
