AFG Glass Changing Its Name

AGC Flat Glass North America will be the new name of AFG Glass. The change is part of an effort to globally unify the Asahi Glass Co. Ltd., companies, including Asahi in Asia, Glaverbel in Europe, and AFG in North America, explains Mark Montgomery, AFG’s director of marketing.

“The global branding strategy is to be completed by September in conjunction with Asahi’s 100th anniversary,” he adds. Based in Japan, Asahi reports it is the world’s largest float glass manufacturer. It acquired AFG in the early ‘90s.

Based in Kingsport, TN, AFG Glass is the largest supplier to the construction/specialty glass market, and the second-largest glass manufacturing organization in North America.
